Pooya Nabei was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, and moved to Canada when he was 17. He learned photography in High School in grade 12 and went on to study Engineering at University. However, Pooya found his career calling when he took a Media Arts program studying photography. Once Pooya’s passion for photography was born, he actually spent so much time shooting late in the campus studio, that he kept a sleeping bag there and used a sand bag as a pillow.
His professional career launched in 2005 when he started photographing nightlife. He went on to shoot the Winter Music Conferences in Miami for 3 years, regularly photographing the top 50 DJs in the world including: DEADMAU5, GUETTA, SKRILLIX, to name a few. He has also lent his large-concept style of shooting to clients like ROSE ESTATE WINE’s billboard shoot for Asia, NECKED JEANS and BLACK ORCHID DENIM American fashion campaigns, the billboard ads for the iconic luxury fashion company LEONE, and the large-scale campaign launch for TRUMP TOWERS VANCOUVER, with a city-block long billboard shot for the TRUMP’s new building.
Pooya has won photography awards locally as well as nationally – several being for the Applied Arts Awards for Fashion in 2011, 2012 and 2013 in both photography and retouching. Pooya enjoys the full spectrum of photography – from planning large concepts, shooting them and then completing the delivered look with full compositing and retouching.
Pooya is a wonderful, gentle soul, and a very family-oriented person. He is thrilled to announce that he recently got married. Congrats Pooya!
